Over a three year period, Liz Murphy Design worked with the homeowners to take their long-time home and give it an overall update. After 35 years, raising four children, and building two independent careers, it was time to indulge themselves to create the home of their dreams. The work was planned in three phases, beginning with the tiny master bathroom. Phase two focused on the guest bathroom and small incremental improvements to the bedrooms. The last and most comprehensive phase, included an addition to the home that allowed for an expansive open space that featured a kitchen built for two cooks, a dining area with a custom dining table, a reading area with views to their gardens, and a large seating space to house their expanding family. Also included in the home are two office spaces for each of their practices. Liz Murphy Design helped them establish budgets for each phase, brought in the necessary trades and resources for the work, and coordinated the project from beginning to end. The homeowners’ friends are quoted as asking, “How do you ever leave?”
