The homeowners longed for a contemporary kitchen that blended within their 1928 home. Serious cooks with a passion for entertaining, the kitchen lacked sufficient counter space, storage, and a proper entrance from the family room. Replacing the old floor-mounted radiator with a European style wall-mounted version, coupled with the purchase of a counter depth refrigerator, allowed the entrance to the kitchen to widen to 28”. A more powerful ventilation hood, new top-hinged windows and a heated tiled floor now established the new envelope of the kitchen. Rounding out the design, we selected an engineered East Indian rosewood veneer for the cabinetry, planned for lots of electrical outlets and created a built-in spot for the KitchenAid mixer. The end result? The kitchen of their dreams.
